British Columbia Unclaimed Property Act
British Columbia's Unclaimed Property Act (the "B.C. Act") became effective July 1, 2000. The B.C. Act and related regulations identify what assets can become unclaimed property plus the circumstances and timing under which they become unclaimed. For unclaimed property valued at $50.00 or more for owners whose last known address on our records is in the province of British Columbia, Olympia Trust Company is required to maintain a searchable database and make reasonable efforts to locate and notify the owners of such unclaimed property.
Requesting a Search for Unclaimed Property and initiating a claim
If you would like us to search for your unclaimed property in our database, please send an e-mail to bcunclaimedproperty@olympiatrust.com identifying the assets you are claiming and your interest in them. You must include current and prior address information as well as a daytime telephone number where you can be contacted should further information be required to validate your claim and search. To claim an asset, please send a letter to the address below identifying the assets you are claiming from this search (name and date for each asset). NOTE: all resulting claims for unclaimed property must be accompanied by satisfactory evidence as to your identity prior to processing the claim.
