Role Summary

The primary responsibilities for the Accounting Specialist in the Olympia Financial Group Inc. division includes all aspects from processing accounts payable and accounts receivables, preparing and checking reports to completing month-end procedures. The Accounting Specialist is also responsible for reviewing existing processes, then designing ways to automate these processes. The Accountant must have clear communication skills to work within the team and meet all stated deadlines.

Role Responsibilities

  • Managing accounting operations based on accounting principles
  • Assist with publishing financial statements on time
  • Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries
  • Collect, analyze and summarize accounting information
  • Data entry and monthly invoicing
  • Develop monthly reports and detail analysis of results for management
  • Keep up with financial policies, regulation and legislation
  • Verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS principles
  • Resolve all issues timeously
  • Assist in gathering information relating to external audits
  • Familiar with tax rules specifically relating to GST
  • Review existing processes and procedures for potential for automation
  • Design and implement process enhancements
  • Other accounting related duties as assigned and ad hoc requests

Experience and Skills

  • Post-Secondary education is required
  • Accounting designation in good standing
  • 3-4 years accounting experience
  • Minimum 1-year tax experience
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office Suite (including Access), with advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experienced with Visual Basic for Applications
  • Experienced with Sage 300(formerly Accpac) and Sage Intelligence- Willing to work flexible hours based on the needs of the business
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI (including Power Query) would be considered an asset
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Background check will be required
