The Human Resources Manager is an HR professional who champions and supports Olympia’s organizational goals. You will have a strong sense of self, sound judgment, and extensive experience in all areas of Human Resources. Initiative, discretion, flexibility, and integrity are your strengths.

You can easily switch gears – from mentoring one minute to day-to-day administration the next. You will be comfortable making informed business decisions and utilize technology to enhance and measure the results of those decisions.


  • Overall responsibility of the day-to-day administration of the function.
  • Provide top-tier coaching to all levels of the organization.
  • Influence without authority the leadership of the organization with open and honest communication.
  • Create a positive work culture for all Olympia employees with a key focus on strategizing and developing initiatives beyond what already exists.
  • Provide expertise and strategic human resources leadership to enable company growth.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and effective deployment/communication of all human resource policies, procedures, and directives, facilitate employee engagement and development, and protect the company from litigious actions and complaints.
  • Lead and continuously improve recruitment, screening, selection, and onboarding processes.
  • Work in conjunction with the Human Resources team to improve, develop, and implement effective programs and processes to retain, and develop employees in support of Olympia’s organizational goals.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the human resource function, programs, and services, including the capacity of the human resource team, as well as oversee the organizational integration and adoption of sound human resources, policies, practices, programs, and procedures at all organization levels.
  • Willingness to provide hands-on support in the performance of various Human Resources functions, including but not limited to recruitment, data maintenance, etc.
  • Development of Human Resources metrics for reporting to all levels of the organization.
  • Conduct internal investigations as circumstances may require.
  • Coach and mentor the Human Resources team members in the management of complaints, disputes, and administration of disciplinary procedures.
  • Oversee all disability management claims.
  • Management and oversight of the HSE function for the organization.
  • End to End processing of all terminations.


  • Associates or Bachelors’ degree in a related field.
  • 15+ years of directly related experience, with a minimum of 8 years experience in a manager role.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is preferred; SHRM designation is recognized.
  • Experience working for a publicly traded, mid-size company, with multiple divisions and executives will be an asset.
  • Talent Acquisition and Management experience.
  • Experience developing and executing Human Resources programs and strategies.
  • Experience with the HSE function.
  • An innovative problem solver and strategic thinker for continual improvement.
  • Strong employee relations, compensation, and benefits administration background.
  • Strong knowledge of existing governmental and labor, legal, and government reporting requirements in Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Ontario.
  • Experience in a federally regulated workplace is an asset.
  • Legal compliance and risk mitigation techniques is an asset.
  • Organizational development, critical and analytical thinking skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build business partnerships and align human resources initiatives with business goals.
  • A driven and decisive passion for building teams.
  • A strong grasp of social media platforms, HR software, applicant tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now will be an asset.
