British Columbia's Unclaimed Property Act (the “B.C. Act”) became effective July 1, 2000. The B.C. Act and associated regulations identify what assets can become unclaimed property plus the circumstances and timing under which they become unclaimed. For unclaimed property valued at $50.00 or more for owners whose last known address on our records is in the province of British Columbia, Olympia Trust Company is required to maintain a searchable database and make reasonable efforts to locate and notify the owners of such unclaimed property. If you would like us to search for unclaimed property of yours in our database, please send an e-mail to bcunclaimedproperty@olympiatrust.com identifying the assets you are claiming and your interest in them. Please also include current and prior address information as well as a daytime telephone number where you can be contacted for further information required to validate your claim. NOTE: all resulting claims for unclaimed property must be accompanied by satisfactory evidence as to your identity prior to processing the claim. To appeal a decision to deny your prior claim request, please send an e-mail to the above-noted e-mail address and include the word “Appeal” in the subject line. Please identify the assets you are claiming, your current and prior address information and state your reasons why you believe your claim request should not have been denied. Your appeal will be reviewed by the Vice President.
